Diane Baker Designs The First WRKF Tote Bag

UPDATE:  The first WRKF tote bag is now available! Want one? Click here to support WRKF.

After two months of grueling competition, a winner emerges. Diane Baker's design will be appearing on a tote bag near you in Spring 2015. Listen for the first signs of our spring pledge drive to learn how you can get your hands on one.

About Diane

Diane Baker lives in Lafayette, Louisiana, and freelances as a graphic designer and illustrator. She has won multiple awards for her graphic work and even an award in an edible art contest.

Over the years, she has worked on many projects promoting public education about the environment, including work for Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program, USGS National Wetlands Center and LUMCON. Along with her freelance work, she is a teaching artist for the Acadiana Center for the Arts.

About her design

Since her husband’s family are Baton Rouge natives, she travels back and forth across the Basin for family gatherings. Traveling west on I-10, her first view of Baton Rouge is the state capitol, followed by the Mississippi River Bridge and then Tiger Stadium. In her tote bag design she wanted to represent commerce, government, the blues, nature, LSU and the vibrant spirit of the city. Working on this design has inspired her to work on designs for other Louisiana cities and towns.

Special thanks to everyone who took the time to submit a design. Thanks to our panel of judges: NPR correspondent Debbie Elliott, Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge CEO Eric Holowacz and Katie Burk, graphic designer for The Atlantic.
