FEMA Assistance Registration Deadline Approaches

Louisiana homeowners, renters and business owners who sustained damage after Hurricane Isaac have only three days left to register with FEMA for disaster assistance. Thursday is also the day the state’s two remaining Disaster Recovery Centers will close.

The recovery centers in Lafitte and LaPlace are open from 9 am to 5:30pm daily until Thursday.

In a statement, FEMA officials stressed that communication channels will remain open for survivors even after Nov. 29th.

Federal Coordinating Officer Gerard M. Stolar said FEMA is committed to helping survivors receive all the state and federal assistance they are eligible for, and Louisianans can still contact them with questions or concerns after Thursday.

Storm-affected homeowners, renters and business owners with uninsured or underinsured damage in the 27 disaster-designated parishes can register online at disasterassistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA.
