The White House confirmed Thursday that President Obama will be making his first trip to Baton Rouge next week.

The President is set to visit the State Capital on Thursday, January 14th, just two days after his final State of the Union address in Washington.

The White House says Obama will first visit Omaha, Nebraska on Wednesday, before heading to Louisiana. The President's trip after the State of the Union is a tradition.

Obama is expected to talk about progress under his leadership, as well as an agenda for his remaining year in office. The White House notes that unemployment in Louisiana has fallen considerably in the past few years and that more than 2.5 million people are covered under the Affordable Care Act, or "Obamacare."

The visit will mark his tenth trip to Louisiana during his time in office.
