Water Institute Hires Esteemed Researcher

The Water Institute of the Gulf has hired a renowned Mississippi River expert to join their staff to help advance the group’s Gulf Coast restoration and protection efforts.

Mead Allison has researched river delta system for nearly 25 years. He will join the non-profit, independent research group as director of physical processes and sediment systems in January 2013.

Allison’s work will focus on the availability, amount and characteristics of river and coastal sediments, and the best use of these limited resources.

In addition to joining the institute staff, he will also be a professor at Tulane University. This will be his third time on the faculty of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences.
