“Pure, unadulterated evil,” was how Governor John Bel Edwards described the killing of three law enforcement officers in Baton Rouge during a Monday press conference.

“There is no doubt whatsoever that these officers were intentionally targeted and assassinated,”

Louisiana State Police Commander Mike Edmonson stated.

He gave the media a detailed description of Sunday’s firefight between Baton Rouge  cops and deputies, and the gunman, Gavin Long – including showing photos of the multiple weapons Long brought to the attack..

Three law enforcement officers are dead, three others wounded as shots rang out and through Baton Rouge once again, at another convenience store – this one, just blocks from Baton Rouge Police headquarters.

Law enforcement officials continue to work the scene in and around the convenience store where 3 officers were killed and another 3 were wounded Sunday morning.

Louisiana State Police commander Col. Mike Edmonson says they believe a suspect shot and killed at the scene was responsible for killing and wounding the officers. That gunman has been identified as 29-year-old Gavin Eugene Long of Kansas City, Missouri.

Two Baton Rouge city police officers were killed, with a third wounded, and one EBR sheriff's deputy was killed, with two other deputies wounded.
