Those seeking the state’s highest offices are making their way to the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office, today through Thursday. They’re paying fees and filing their qualifying documents for the October 24th primary.
That means the campaigns are about to bombard you with ads. Expect more of what we’ve already heard from John Bel Edwards, Jay Dardenne and Scott Angelle.
Jay Dardenne is urging payback from a couple of fellow Republicans.
“David’s got a lot of money in the super PAC. Bobby’s got a lot of money in super PACs and taxpayers of Louisiana ought not be having to fund those efforts. That’s the point I’m really making,” Dardenne said of his call for David Vitter and Bobby Jindal to reimburse the state of Louisiana.
When you talk about "outside" money in politics, there's a good chance you'll talk about billionaire activists David and Charles Koch.
Especially if you're Harry Reid. The Senate majority leader regularly takes to the Senate floor to slam the Kochs for financing a network of conservative groups. Back in March, he said he was criticizing "two very wealthy brothers who intend to buy their own Congress, a Congress beholden to their money and bound to enact their radical philosophy."
